Petite La Fleur

The opening night of The Taming of The Shrew on April 6, 2016 at the Roxy Theatre, was a play I will never forget. The leads playing Petruchio and Katherina, Jonathan Whitney and Margaret Eilertson, were phenomenal at portraying character transformation as well as creating depth to the characters beyond an act. However, the rest of the cast was equally brilliant in the portrayal of their roles and emphasizing Shakespeare’s wit and humor with every delivery of every line. The set remained a simple backdrop of columns to resemble the home of Baptista and his daughters, Katherina and Bianca; whereas when the travels of Katherina and Petruchio occurred, there was a fabric backdrop of various places and landmarks. While the theme of the play was obviously rather crude in that a man should have the capability to “tame” his woman/wife, the humor and mocking of this social mentality was the message depicted through Shakespeare’s words and the actor’s portrayal.  An overall wonderful...

So this morning Heather was supposed to pick me up from my house in the morning before bringing Daniel to school but she woke up too late, having to bring him to school, go back home to get ready, and then pick me up. But all was well. (: She came around 8:30, so we stopped by Starbucks on Wilma Rudolph where I bought a gingerbread latte and a lemon poundcake and we sat, talking until about 11. Driving over to Austin Peay, we went to the Foy (the school's gym) and had our first Yoga class! Although it was hard, it was so calming and relaxing and we both thoroughly enjoyed it!! Right after getting ready, we went to the UC to eat lunch and David joined us. I had class almost immediately after, so I had to get eat rather fast. Today I had my first English and Economics class for the semester. In English we opened with an introduction to Hamlet and in Economics we took notes on what an economist does. This morning my mom and I went to Austin Peay around 11 since she had a lesson at 11:30. I went to the Marks, returned my college textbooks,  and ran some errands before going to the UC to wait for my mom to go to Senior Seminar. Today we had a financial aid guest speaker, so parents were invited. So we sat in the room for over an hour, listening to a lady reiterate a lot of the information we've been told before but that's okay. Then I went to the library with Heather and Brittany. For both my classes, we were meeting in the library but it was pretty much independent study for English and then Government we just had to turn in our letter to a local official and we were dismissed. David picked up Heather and I from Austin Peay and brought me home (which was nice) and I spent the rest of my afternoon watching Gossip Girl. It's pretty addicting.

Today my mom brought me to school around 11 and I worked on somethings before my English class at 1:45. We met in the library for both my English and Government class. For English we had to choose a sonnet by Shakespeare and do an analysis. For Government, we worked on our letter to a local official. At 6:00 my mom picked me up to go to the Lutheran Church she works at for an Advent service/dinner/talk thing. It was interesting. :)

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading? I have several; I enjoy reading on the far end of our couch next to the window and a small shelf where I usually keep my coffee cup, my bed on the right corner with my pillow leaning on the wall with my knees bent and book resting on them, or my dining room table where my laptop and tablet stay plugged in. 2. Bookmark or random piece of paper? Typically, I use a bookmark because I have probably hundreds of them ( I collect ) and enjoy the memories of the either the person who gave me the bookmark or the location I got it. However, if I begin a new book and have misplaced a bookmark or something, then I'll use a piece of paper or an index card. 3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages? I MUST HAVE A STOPPING POINT. For example, if my mom says "It's time for dinner", I'll respond with "Hold on, I'm just going to finis...
