  The popular television series Supernatural and Charmed are both delving into the worlds of demons, angels, and all other supernatural occurrences while being juxtaposed to the ordinary lifestyle most humans lead. Charmed includes three witch sisters responsible for taking care of vanquishing and warding off evil while Supernatural includes two hunter brothers following the path of evil to destroy every evil creature they can. Although both tv shows have very different plot lines, the dynamics and most themes are very much the same. Dealing with evil while trying to lead somewhat normal lives, Prue, Phoebe and Piper, have very much of the same complicated sibling dynamic as Sam and Dean. While the differences are indeed significant, the similarities are rather shocking as well. Personal Logo Process Due to the wonderful website, http://www.logomakr.com , I was able to create my personal logo with free graphics and color without any issues. Although I have had a personal blog for over a year now, I had never thought of creating a personal logo to affiliate to my blog; then again, I was only fifteen years old when I started it. Therefore, I wanted the logo to be personal and depict not only myself but the overall concept of my blog. Having to spend only about an hour on this project, I was able to create a picture of a girl with glasses, reading a book at a desk with a cup of coffee in the corner and my blog website run across the bottom; it was perfect because the girl looked identical to me and the theme of my blog is written works or book reviews, as well as including a “coffee chat” type idea. The experience was not only simple but fun and I know I will enjoy future creations of logos in case I am needing to change mine or use it for another class. ...

Cresta McGowan, while being an English high school teacher, is also a literary review blogger and writer. Writing opinions about Young Adult novels to Classic Literature, she varies in her reading habits, hence, giving well rounded reviews. Although she has given up blogging at the moment, due to lack of time, the posts throughout the past six years have developed a well read blog. Most posts are at minimum a paragraph or two per book review, while some run much longer. The variation in genres is a refreshing and interesting aspect of McGowan’s blog, appealing to several audiences. Thus, while McGowan holds various opinions on books regarding liking or disliking them, she also gives consistent information throughout her reviews. For example, she has a series throughout her blog called “Back on the Shelf”, and reviews several books she has read or is currently reading. This morning I woke up and made a nice fruit and bagel breakfast before enjoying a good cup of coffee while watching some tv shows with my mom. The day was average, I had my Media Class, English, and Economics. The biggest part of my day today was going out for dinner with Heather at Fujiyama and telling her I have finally decided which college I will be attending: American University! <3 It was great to finally tell her and it be more official. I'm sad that I won't be able to go to Knoxville and do all the things I've been planning for the past 5 months, but I know I made the best decision.

“Divergent” by Veronica Roth and “Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins both share a core of being popular, dystopian novels. Appearing in the “Young Adult” or “Teen” sections of most bookstores or libraries, it is indeed of the teenage demographic that these novels draw readers. Similarly, both books contain and emphasize particular concepts although they exhibit varying symbolism and society portrayals. Written in completely two different styles with two absolutely different worlds and narratives, both stories hold a context within media today and play a role in how society is viewed. “Divergent” and “Hunger Games” are both dystopias with tragic, crumbled society’s affecting the youth of the world in which they live with it’s drastic consequences. The notion that journalists are either bias or seen in a negative light, is  a common one worldwide but particularly in the United States. Painted in red with “bias” practically stamped upon their foreheads, is often how the everyday American views the average journalist. As Andrew Rosenthal mentions (“How Biased Is Your Media?”, 2012.) in the Freakonomics podcast, “Well the purpose of it quite simply is to keep the expressed opinions of people who are journalists… journalists who express their opinions out of the news columns. It is to avoid the contamination of news with opinion, not the other way around, obviously, because there is lots of news in opinion writing. And that is to maintain the independence of the news report”; thus elaborating and differentiating editorials from news reports, terminology this generation is usually unfamiliar with. Well this morning, friends, Heather picked me up and we went to Austin Peay to get ready. I had some errands to run so we did that before meeting up with Brittany at the library. At 11:15, I went to my Media class where we turned in our essay's and talked about our journals (for the first time, I went up in front of the class and presented.) At 12:10, I was supposed to go to the Foy to do Upper Body Burn with Heather, but I was wearing my work clothes and wasn't up for the hassle afterwards. So in stead, I got ready for work, waited for Heather to come out of class, and then went to Starbucks to get some coffee, Soy Latte. At 2:15, my mom picked me up to bring me to work at Opry Mills.

Friends(: This morning my first thought, repeatedly was "no no no no no no no NO no NO". I was so freaking tired. But I had to get up and get ready so that was okay. First thing this morning, Heather and I did was go to the gym and we literally cycled for 65 minutes. I began listening to music and then watching a Netflix episode. After our workout, we had a few errands to run (Marks and Library) before I went to my very strange, very awkward Media class. When it was over, I went to the library to find Heather and David working on stuff so I did the same until English while I ate lunch. In class we watched Young Frankenstein  and oh man was that a treat. Ha. Then, Heather and I worked on Stats homework for literally 3 hours and only got 15 questions done... It was depressing. Brittany, Heather and I then had to rush our workout to ensure we were done by 8 so my mom could pick me up. (:

Hello friends; Sorry for the strange blogging habits I've had the past couple of days... It's been super frantic and hectic trying to prepare for Science Olympiad and still completing school stuff. Anyway, this morning I had to actually compile some science olympiad material before my mom drove me to school at 10 am. I went to the library, printed my Media Journal before actual class. We ended up having interesting discussion and watching a video before being given our essay assignment which will be due when we return from Spring Break (I think?). APSU has their spring break next week while CMCSS has it in two weeks; meaning Middle College students don't get a spring break this year. Oh well. Life A Short Love Story is a Youtube video posted by the Youtuber, Angad Singh, yet directed and animated by Carlos Lascano, is mixed media video including animation and clay stop motion figures. The video begins with stop motion of a young girl day dreaming out a window, doodling on her artwork in class; glancing across the room, she makes eye contact with a boy, who presumably becomes the love interest of the video. The audience is then shown several montages pieced together of a love story blooming between the two; young love, marriage, having a baby and then old age. As noted in the in the title, the meaning of the video is to display the love story that occurs throughout a lifetime. However, the ending of the video shows the entire story line is a daydream of the young girl in class. A book trailer, common on Youtube, is as simple as it sounds: it is a trailer made, usually by fans, to promote a book they enjoyed. The particular trailer I found on “The Raven Cycle”, currently a series of three books by Maggie Stiefvater, was made by a YouTuber called Cookie Polly. The book series, follows the main quirky characters, Blue, Gansey, Ronan, Adam and Noah, on their magical and mysterious adventures. The book trailer Cookie Polly created, portrays several plot lines throughout the story as well as suspense given in the novels. While the quality differs, in that it is amateurly made, the goal to publicize the books is the same. Typically, book trailers are made by fans that cut clips from various other film-media sources to create one video. Sometimes, this may be done through footage the fan takes, but it is mostly commonly a collage of clips from movies or other video forms. Hey guys! This morning I got to sleep in until a whopping 7:30 am which was nice. But then shortly afterwards, I had to get ready, prepare my breakfast and lunch, as well as type up some last minute Media homework since the girl appointed in our group was unable to do so. At 10:15, Heather pulled up to my house, coming at the perfect time to arrive at APSU at 10:30 and print out my Media page. In class, we turned those in and took discussion notes over Chapter two. Directly after Media, I had Yoga with Heather which was more fast paced than usually but it was still enjoyable.(: We rushed to eat our lunch afterwards with Brittany since I had a 1:45 English class, where we discussed Chapters 1-10 in Frankenstein a bit before our quiz. In Econ, we took notes over Price and Non Price Competition and got out very early.
