VIVE LE QUATORZE JUILLET!  SIDENOTE: In France, there's no such thing as Bastille day it's just the 14th of July. For those who don't know the 14th of July is France's Independence day, similar to our 4th of July. However, for some odd reason, American's coined the term "Bastille Day" when really the French don't celebrate Bastille, they celebrate the Independence. Oh well, just a cultural difference.  Anyway, today I was suppose to volunteer at the public library but then I found out (once being dropped off by my mom) that it was only for those 18+... which obviously, I am not.  Regardless, I stayed at the library and read as well as got on the computer for a bit. April 15, 2015 In my American History class we began talking about World War II and in my English class we started reading "The Things They Carried" By Tim O'Brien which is centered around Vietnam. The idea of war has always been a very prominent idea in my life. I was born on an American base in Kaiserslautern, Germany because my dad was in Army. I grew up with the idea in my head that any day we could get notified that my dad was dead. I had friends mom's, dad's, brother's, or sister's that had died and the possibility was always there. I don't have a personal relationship with my dad, the deployments and his work always got in the way so while he missed birthdays, school accomplishments and all the "firsts" you could think of, I was too busy trying to distract myself of his absence to notice his absence. Almost everyone has the desire to travel, to explore. For me, there's nothing more exciting than seeing new places and meeting new people. I'm in the process of learning French and Greek from my mom and I'm hoping to move to Paris and go to college there after 2-3 years here at a community college. Monday: March 2, 2015 Hey guys! If you're wondering about my title, it's a "The King and I" reference to one of the songs sung in the musical. Anyway here are a few things about me.... Reading comes as naturally to me as breathing. There's just something so exhilarating and magical about following a story, traveling to new places, and meeting new people through a simple turn of a page.  I can not read music.. I mean I can but I can't, like I know where the notes fall or if you play a notes I can imitate it back but if you just tell me "Play C",  I'll look at you as if you just asked me the question of life.  I'm crazy organized, like I have what seems like millions of notebooks, calendars and planners. I color-code everything, add sticks when necessary and list it all out.
