Age Limbo

From the ages 16-20 people are put into this weird limbo of being considered grown in some respects but not in others and as a 17 year old, turning 18 in September, I already find this limbo frustrating. 16 - can have a job, earn a paycheck, and drive a motor vehicle that can kill someone, still a blatant "child". 17 - close to 18 but obviously not; could end up graduating high school at said age, going to college, and being in debt before legal adulthood but is still considered a minor in respects of tattoos, piercings, youth bank accounts in most states. 18 - WOOHOO ADULTHOOD. One can join the military and die overseas without having a sip of legal alcohol in the United States. But wait, you can buy lottery tickets, cigarettes, and vote! 19 - Still a teen but a year over "adulthood" but not really a grown up. 20 - More of a grown up at this point, but still cannot enjoy a legal alcoholic beverage. 21 - Okay so you're brain is done developing and for the ...

Chapter's 1-10 (Victor's POV) - Entry #2

Image
In Chapters 1-10, the author introduces the two major characters, Victor Frankenstein and the Creature, as well as several minor characters including Elizabeth Lavenza, Henry Clerval, and Justine Moritz. While these chapters follow Victor’s point of view, whom we find out is the stranger on board Robert Walton’s ship, the minor characters play just as a pivotal role in the story as Victor does. The three minor character’s I’ve chosen were all part of Victor’s childhood and hometownlife in Geneva, prior to his studies in Ingolstadt. To begin, Victor Frankenstein falls within several archetype roles to include the mad scientist and the creator god. Before his departure to Ingolstadt, however, he was primarily an intellectual interested in sciences and philosophy. To exemplify Victor’s studious character before his obsession with the creature, “From this day natural philosophy, and particularly chemistry, in the most comprehensive sense of the term, became nearly my sole occupation...

Evening Post

Image
Just some evening thoughts: Why is [most] of our generation's music, meaningless with very bad face value messages? What is it called when you're not a millennial but not truly a 90's baby either? ('98 right here xx) Will our parent's generation figure out what the hell is going on with the world; or will we have to scramble to pick up all the pieces?  Who decided animals were inferior to humans? What if the bible is really the first Publisher's mastermind accomplishment? ("Hm yeah, people seem to enjoying/believing this... let's run with it") Where does the Earth really fall on the grand scheme of the universe or even life? What if we're really the aliens that inhabited Earth but lost all our history in the wars to destroy each other? When will we recognize that education is important and even vital to our society? How is my zodiac horoscope 99% of the time correct? Who thought clowns and mimes would be funny?  Is it weird that I ...

New Year's Day

Image
Waking up at 9:30 would have been nice if I hadn't been woken up at least six times throughout the night. Regardless, I got ready and Heather picked me up at 10:20ish. We had some errands to run but first stopped by Starbucks. Where we actually ended up just sitting until noon, talking about a lot. It was nice but we probably should've ran our errands. Thus, we went to her house to eat lunch with her mom which was nice. (: At about 2, we went back to the mall strip area for Heather to get some clothes from PacSun and a perfume from Victoria's Secret before stopping by Walmart for me to get some things as well. She dropped me off at home around 5, so I decided to take a shower and put some clothes away before eating dinner with my family. For dessert, mom had made Vasilopita Cake which is traditionally made for the New Year. Everyone gets a slice and each slice is dedicated for family and friends since there's a hidden piece inside indicating who will have good luc...

Average beginning to the day with breakfast and "morning meeting" where we all just sit and stare at our phones until it's time to go to class, haha, but it's perfect<3. Today, my day began with a cello lesson with Dr.Lara. Which was both fabulous and distressing. She's just a very intense professor and sometimes it's very intimidating for me, but it went relatively well. At the same time, Piper had a piano lesson with Dr.Wood and then Dr.Lara offered to drive us both back to the dance building for class. After lunch I had a voice lesson with Dr. Bailey which was FREAKING AWESOME BECAUSE I LOVE HIM! <3 Okay, we chose the song for the final exhibition and started plunking through it which was exciting. Then I had rehearsal with Piper and Laquimah for an hour before Interdisciplinary where we researched images of things that inspired us for McLean to print them off. Next was a film music class with Dr.Lara, she played clips of music where we had to gu...
