Priorities

Image
What is a priority in your life right now?  School, education, and preparing for college. I have so much school-stuff going on right now. As far as high school, it's my senior year, I have to make sure I'm on top of everything to ensure my GPA only goes up and not down. College-wise, I have a lot of deadlines right now. Scholarship here, application there. So many things to finish up, recommendations to gather, questions to answer, etc. So honestly, school is my top priority right now. Filling out my college and scholarship applications, getting all my things together. :)

Memorable Dream

Image
So this dream is a very particular one indeed, so bear with me. The dream begins with a road trip with David, Heather, Caitlyn and me driving through the mountains. We're having a good time, with the windows down and music blasting. Partying it up, yanno? Then we arrive to this cabin that Heather and David set us up to stay at for our vacation. When we get in, they both tell Caitlyn and I we can never leave. That we have to live with them forever and we'll all be happy together. Creepy, right? Initially they lock me in a room, with a typewriter, plants, and nice olive wallpaper. So I think "Well, I can dig it." And so I just settle down and stay with them. Studying nature through my window, writing about it on my nice type writer and living with Heather, David, and Caitlyn. Then, speed forward to where we're all 70 years old. And David and Heather insist that I have to leave the cabin. Of course, I don't want to leave, I've lived with them for ...

Bad Habits

Image
What bad habit would you like to change?  Negativity and constantly pushing myself to limits I'm not sure I can keep up with. I've realized that I can be a very negative person. I complain at least 5 times a day about different things, out loud, even if I'm not feeling negative about it. For example, I'll complain about doing certain homework assignments but I'm not really feeling negative about it. So it's as if I just randomly complain about things for no real reason. It's just words coming out of my mouth with no real emotion. And then I get frustrated when people call me a "negative person" but how can I blame them when all I do is complain. Secondly, I push myself constantly. I feel that I need to push myself to crazy limits to the point where I get 3 hours of sleep and no time to do anything but go, go, go. I need to recognize when my body and mind is tired so I can take some rest time. I need to be able to just sit outside and refl...

Tattoos

Image
Do you ever close your eyes and envision yourself in a very specific way? I've always known I want to get tattoos. My parents aren't necessarily against it, but they want me to be 18 before I start doing them. I've been thinking a lot of the tattoo's I've been wanting lately and thought I'd share... 1. A blue carnation (above right ankle) - blue is my mom's favourite color and carnation's are her favorite flowers; I'd get it to always have some memory of my mom with me. 2. G-clef and F-clef heart (left hip) - music has always been a part of me and my mom so I feel that it sort of runs through my veins. 3. Elephant (left ankle) some type of plain black outline of an elephant because they're my favorite animals 4. Tree of Life (right shoulder) - Nature is a very important part of existence for me and I'd like to commemorate it on me 5. Carpe Librum (right under forearm)- Seize the Book; Because I love literature and...

Introvert

Image
I've always considered myself an introvert. While I enjoy the company of my friends and having a good time, I also enjoy the solitude of being alone. I typically don't like crowds and if I'm hanging out with a group of friends, I don't want more than 5 people there. It's just that usually if there are more than 5 people, then people split into smaller groups or talk over one another and someone is left feeling left out and it's just a lot of things going on at once. In bigger groups, I tend to not talk. I observe, listen, maybe put my input every now and then but I'm a watcher and a listener not a talker. Some of my favorite memories are hanging out with my friends and silly things we did, on the other hand, some are when I was alone; walking on campus alone, reading a book, writing, working in the library, sitting outside observing things, shelving books, etc. I enjoy being myself, it gives me time to reflect and piece my thoughts together. It gives ...

Missing Out? NOT.

Image
Why is there such a fear of "missing out" ? For instance, in high school, people feel obligated to go to Prom, Homecoming, Football games, Pep rallys, etc. Yes, there are people who really do want to go to these events, but there are plenty of people I know that don't really want to go but do anyway because they fear missing out... I went to Prom with one of my close friends and I loved it, but I went to the Middle College prom and we only had like maybe 60 people. It was a very intimate setting and it just felt like a big party of friends. I don't like football, but I was sort of pressured to feel as if I was missing out if I didn't go to the games. (I still only went to one game a year, the Warfield Shield game, since it was one of the biggest games). I went to my freshmen year homecoming and honestly it was dreadfully boring, so I didn't go the next years and people were like "aw you're missing out." Sophomore year, I felt I had to g...

Train Ride To No Where

Image
I love nature, travel, and coffee. Sunsets, autumn, and novels.  I'm young, perhaps 20 or 25.  I imagine myself on a train headed somewhere, perhaps Paris or Berlin, perhaps London or Stockholm, perhaps nowhere or everywhere. I imagine sipping what began as black coffee but as the time passed, so did the sugar packets i poured into the Styrofoam cup. I have a novel to the side, perhaps Wuthering Heights or Great Expectations, two novels that captivated my heart, mind and soul as my eyes inhaled the words off the page. I love words and language, it's fascinating how simple yet complex they both are. I look out the window to a blurry vision of the green grass and orange sky. Ideally, it'd be autumn and I'd be wearing a cozy oversized sweater, a huge circle scarf, boots and faded jeans. Of course my glasses would be on my face since I can hardly see without them, but they'd be dirty, as always. It seems no matter how hard I try, my glasses always have a smud...

Junior Prom

Image
May 8, 2015 I went into last nights prom with no expectations, no real plans in mind. I decided on Friday I'd go to prom with my friend, Emilia and asked my friend Hanna if I could borrow her prom dress rather than trying to find one last minute. Monday, I bought my ticketwhich was $25. School was actually canceled on Friday due to prom although I'm unsure if it's because they realized that since Middle College only consists of juniors and seniors and it was a junior-senior prom, that almost no one would show up or since there are only 4 teachers and 3 administrators to be chaperones they just needed the extra time to set everything up? Either way, I didn't complain. Around 4:30, I began getting ready. Starting with my makeup, I applied foundation, concealer, finishing powder, bronzer and blush. Next I filled in my eyebrows and put a cream primer on my lids, deciding to let that dry while I did my hair. The theme of the dance was "Great Gatsby", which h...
