Sweet 17s

Image
April 28, 2015 Well today was interesting. I woke up this morning at 7:45 because I had an appointment at 9:30. Then I had my last college american history class for the semester, where he talked about the 1950s. My English class was more exciting, writing detailed argumentative paragraphs and discussing paradoxs in our group. My teacher said the best thing today to me. She saw my book, "Poems of Emily Dickinson" on my desk, saying Emily Dickinson was one of her favorite poets and then remarking that we were "kindred spirits". I love her, she's amazing. Anyway, next I had ballet class that I had to sit through because I have a boot on my foot but it's okay because today was Piper's 17th birthday so her mom (our ballet teacher) brought the whole class cupcakes and we did our birthday ritual (sorry guys, it's top secret). It was great. :)

Interests Versus Personality

April 27, 2015 Disclaimer: Please do not take offense to this post, if you do and post any negative commentary it will be immediately deleted. :)  Growing up as a girl I remember being told by several mentors and role models that because I was a girl, I would have greater struggles in life. Some of these said struggles were small, like I wouldn't be able to run as fast as the boys in my gym class, but others were impacting such as, I would struggle in the work place because either my intelligence wouldn't be valued or my body could be distracting.  Now, simply as a sixteen year old girl I see little truth and much deceit in these words. For example, I don't feel any less in my classes when stating my opinion or proving a boy wrong. At the same time, I've seen several girls flaunt their "goods" and I'll have to admit it can be distracting to any human being not just men.  On the other hand, as an educated girl who's interest rang...

Weekend Catastrophe.

Image
April 26, 2015 I promise it's not as bad as my title makes it out to be. But I am literally am so tired of my freaking cat chewing through my phone or laptop cords. He's chewed through 4 phone cords and 2 laptop cords, so now I have to keep all my school and laptop stuff in one area out side of my bedroom which is very sad because then I spend less time with my cat. So here I am, at 10 o'clock with my laptop at 5% because my cat chewed through my laptop cord from 7 pm to now while I took a shower, ate dinner, and watched Game Of Thrones with my parents. Great. Ah. But this weekend I spend the duration of my time catching up on some recorded TV shows, homework and reading. So yeah that's that. I didn't really do much but that was fine. This upcoming week I have EOCs so I probably won't blog much this week, not like I do regularly anyway... But how was your weekend? Comment down below! :)

Routine Breaker

Image
April 24, 2015 I really need to get back into the routine of blogging everyday! I've been horrible at it lately. But here is a little update about the past few days: Wednesday: I woke up at 7 to leave by 8 for Austin Peay with my mom. I had a cello lesson at 9 with my fabulous teacher and we even discussed upcoming recital and possible pieces I'm going to play. It was also Earth Day, which is possibly the coolest day because I love nature and taking pictures of it. There were tons of faculty and students planting flowers around campus so that put a little bit of a smile on my face. Next, I had my EOC Prep class where I took an online Chemistry Practice Test and then I could leave. I ate lunch with Emilia in a booth at Einsteins until we moved upstairs in the UC since she wanted to work on some of her artwork. My next class was Algebra II where we (of course) took a practice EOC test that will count as a grade, but we had already seen a majority of the questions sin...

Favorite Day? Tuesday.

April 21, 2015 I had my voice lesson today and we worked on a lot. We began with a good warm up and then proceeded on working on the song "Home" sung by Belle in Beauty and the Beast. That was always my favorite fairy tale, I felt so much relation to Belle. Then my professor showed me another song from "Chorus Line" which I instantly fell in love with and he said he'd make a copy for me later. My history class was rather average, he lectured on the Cold War and the various presidential elections from Wilson to Eisenhower. During the talk of the Cold War, Greece was clearly mentioned and honestly it astounds me that there are some people in college who 1) Didn't even know Greece was still a country, 2) Felt that Olives and Wine were what Greece was known for but not Democracy, 3) Didn't understand what was even going on in the country today... But some people don't necessarily care about world affairs, which is fine. It just sort of surprised me...

Tuesday Thoughts

Image
April 21, 2015 The smell of freshly cut grass, the sound of distant chatter, and the feeling of a slight spring breeze surrounds me. I'm not walking with anyone, but sometimes I enjoy the peace and quiet of being by myself, I just hate feeling alone. My stomach spins in circles as my mind circles itself with thoughts and I'm not sure if I'm feeling happy or nauseous. It's been an odd day even though it's just started. My hair falls down my back in a tangly, wavy mess but I've never been able to tame it, so why try now? I've noticed recently that my nose is crooked but it doesn't bother me since my glasses seem to hide that flaw. They also manage to hide that my left eye is a lazy eye and smaller than my right. Not to mention if I get a pimple my glasses tend to cover that as well. I stare at myself in the mirror a lot, not out of conceit, I just end up day dreaming. Sort of. I wonder what I look like to other people. I came to the realization...

Stressed Out Monday

Image
April 20, 2015 I don't know about you guys, but the end of the school year is always so stressful for me. I woke up at 7:30 today, got dressed in a black sweater with my denim shirt underneath, blue jeans and my plain black shoes with white laces. I made my lunch and then ate a somewhat breakfast (a small slice of pizza and a Special K Bar) and then left with my mom.  In EOC Prep, Emilia and I were put in the same group to do a Chemistry EOC Packet review and then we were given our benchmarks from Chemistry class last Friday and had to finish our test analysis before we could leave. Next, I had lunch with Emilia and finished an online Stoichiometry test for Chemistry and a mini practice EOC test for Algebra. I had to reschedule my cello lesson because I didn't really have time to practice this week when she had given me a lot to work on and I had tons of things to get done today during lunch.  Emilia and I then walked to our Algebra class where we were put into our...

Ghosts

April 19, 2015 Last night evidently, I fell asleep on the couch while watching some NOVA episode about mathematics with my brother and my oldest cat, Titi (Tee-Tee) who is 15 years old. I crashed on the couch and stayed there all night, wrapped in blankets and tangled in pillows. This morning I woke up at 9 AM with a pounding headache and much discomfort from sleeping oddly on the couch. I grabbed a Special K bar for breakfast and came up to my bedroom to begin on some homework. At 12:45, my mom came home from work, ate lunch and we left to go pick up Hanna. We all went to the play 'Ghosts' on Campus at APSU. It was such a good play! And it was very nice hanging out and talking to precious Hanna.
