Routine Breaker

April 24, 2015 I really need to get back into the routine of blogging everyday! I've been horrible at it lately. But here is a little update about the past few days: Wednesday: I woke up at 7 to leave by 8 for Austin Peay with my mom. I had a cello lesson at 9 with my fabulous teacher and we even discussed upcoming recital and possible pieces I'm going to play. It was also Earth Day, which is possibly the coolest day because I love nature and taking pictures of it. There were tons of faculty and students planting flowers around campus so that put a little bit of a smile on my face. Next, I had my EOC Prep class where I took an online Chemistry Practice Test and then I could leave. I ate lunch with Emilia in a booth at Einsteins until we moved upstairs in the UC since she wanted to work on some of her artwork. My next class was Algebra II where we (of course) took a practice EOC test that will count as a grade, but we had already seen a majority of the questions sin...

April 21, 2015 I had my voice lesson today and we worked on a lot. We began with a good warm up and then proceeded on working on the song "Home" sung by Belle in Beauty and the Beast. That was always my favorite fairy tale, I felt so much relation to Belle. Then my professor showed me another song from "Chorus Line" which I instantly fell in love with and he said he'd make a copy for me later. My history class was rather average, he lectured on the Cold War and the various presidential elections from Wilson to Eisenhower. During the talk of the Cold War, Greece was clearly mentioned and honestly it astounds me that there are some people in college who 1) Didn't even know Greece was still a country, 2) Felt that Olives and Wine were what Greece was known for but not Democracy, 3) Didn't understand what was even going on in the country today... But some people don't necessarily care about world affairs, which is fine. It just sort of surprised me...

Late Thursday Post

April 16, 2015 Yesterday I woke up at 7:25 and got ready because I had a doctor's appointment at 8:50. Such an odd time for an appointment don't you think? Anyway, then I went home and watched thirty minutes of criminal minds until I had to leave for class. I grabbed lunch on campus (papa johns pizza) and then went to my first class, American History. We just had a lecture about the end of WWII basically. Then I went to Starbucks and got a Venti Iced White Chocolate Mocha before going to English. We discussed our homework about the chapter "The Man I Killed" in the novel "The Things They Carried" by Tim O'Brien then analyzed a poem called "The Man He Killed" by Thomas Hardy. My teacher assigned us a paper due next Tuesday, comparing and contrasting the two. Next I had my two dance classes, Ballet and Modern. In Ballet we did bar work for 30 minutes and then combinations across the floor. In Modern we warmed up and practiced a lot of Cunni...

April 15, 2015 In my American History class we began talking about World War II and in my English class we started reading "The Things They Carried" By Tim O'Brien which is centered around Vietnam. The idea of war has always been a very prominent idea in my life. I was born on an American base in Kaiserslautern, Germany because my dad was in Army. I grew up with the idea in my head that any day we could get notified that my dad was dead. I had friends mom's, dad's, brother's, or sister's that had died and the possibility was always there. I don't have a personal relationship with my dad, the deployments and his work always got in the way so while he missed birthdays, school accomplishments and all the "firsts" you could think of, I was too busy trying to distract myself of his absence to notice his absence. When I think of war, I think of young men and women dying. I think of the plenty of goodbye-ceremonies I went through. I thi...
