1. Far Far Away by Tom McNeal
This book is on the Battle of the Books list, which is why I'm sort of cheating using it for the White on the Cover. I'm trying to read as many books off that list this break as I can... hopefully all of them! :)

2. Life and Death by Stephenie Meyer
Although I haven't read a Stephenie Meyer book this year, Twilight is the epitome of nostalgia for me when it comes to reading. It was the first big series I read in 5th-6th grade and it was a big part of my childhood, so to speak. I'm so excited to read Twilight reimagined!

3. The Kitchen Boy : A Novel of the Last Tsar by Robert Alexander
If you follow my blog, you would have noticed I didn't get any books for Christmas other than a Pasta Cookbook from my mom. Which was great! However, in my family, we usually don't give books until New Years. That's our tradition. So while I'm expecting several books for New Years, I didn't actually get one for Christmas. Therefore, The Kitchen Boy was a gift I got for my 17th Birthday in September. (:

Chapters 14-16 (Creature's POV) - Entry #4

After Frankenstein abandons the creature, other than our short encounter in the woods when Victor is returning from Geneva, we are not exposed to him again until Victor’s retreat to the mountains. In chapter eleven, the creature opens his tale saying he is not quite sure of the beginning of his being; his initial memories and sensations began with his retreat to the woods after Frankenstein’s apartment. Living off berries and nuts, the creature was confused but learning survival skills along the way, including how to set and maintain a fire. I found this lonely encounter may have been initially good for the creature because it allowed him to figure out his surroundings of this new life he was brought into; however, keeping in mind while he is the great, big creature, he is very much in the dark about life and society itself, and without Victor to help him, he was completely and utterly alone.
