Introvert
I've always considered myself an introvert.
While I enjoy the company of my friends and having a good time, I also enjoy the solitude of being alone. I typically don't like crowds and if I'm hanging out with a group of friends, I don't want more than 5 people there. It's just that usually if there are more than 5 people, then people split into smaller groups or talk over one another and someone is left feeling left out and it's just a lot of things going on at once.
In bigger groups, I tend to not talk. I observe, listen, maybe put my input every now and then but I'm a watcher and a listener not a talker.
Some of my favorite memories are hanging out with my friends and silly things we did, on the other hand, some are when I was alone; walking on campus alone, reading a book, writing, working in the library, sitting outside observing things, shelving books, etc. I enjoy being myself, it gives me time to reflect and piece my thoughts together. It gives me time to take in my surroundings all on my own without any outside influence.
For every hangout with my friends, I need double the amount of "alone-time". Primarily to re-energize myself, but also to just get things done that I want to. One of my biggest problems is that when I'm around people, I don't really get things done. I'd rather sit and talk with them (most of the time) than get my stuff together. Of course there are a few exceptions to this, but most of the time this is the case.
I like to think of myself as the introverted extrovert. I'm about 75% introvert and 25% extrovert.
My alone time is when I problem-solve, when I get things done, when I reflect on what I need or want to do; it's how I get by life.
