Reading Habbits

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
I have several; I enjoy reading on the far end of our couch next to the window and a small shelf where I usually keep my coffee cup, my bed on the right corner with my pillow leaning on the wall with my knees bent and book resting on them, or my dining room table where my laptop and tablet stay plugged in.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Typically, I use a bookmark because I have probably hundreds of them ( I collect ) and enjoy the memories of the either the person who gave me the bookmark or the location I got it. However, if I begin a new book and have misplaced a bookmark or something, then I'll use a piece of paper or an index card.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?
I MUST HAVE A STOPPING POINT. For example, if my mom says "It's time for dinner", I'll respond with "Hold on, I'm just going to finish my chapter..." because I can't just put down a book. It doesn't sit well with me haha.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?
For those avid readers out there, you know how nearly impossible it is to do either of these while reading. However, I do enjoy drinking coffee while I'm reading or if I'm thirsty, I'll have a drink. I just can not eat and read. It never works for me.

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?
I HATE THE TV BEING ON IF I'M NOT WATCHING ANYTHING. So that's out. And as far as music goes, I can only listen to classical music or instrumental pieces while reading. Any music with words and I instantly get distracted.

6. One book at a time or several at once?
I used to strictly read one book at a time. But I've come to be fond of reading several at once. If I get tired of the story, or if I'm in a dull part of the book, I can just set it down and exchange it for another. Plus I feel like I get much more reading in if reading several novels at once.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?
Oh I definitely read everywhere. Home, school, car, doctor's office, anywhere and everywhere. I always have a book handy.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?
If I read anything out loud, I have no idea what I just read so I prefer reading silently in my head.

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?
NEVER! How can one skip pages in a book? That's like fast forwarding in a movie you've never seen. You skip vital parts of the plot!

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?
I don't really have a preference.

11. Do you write in your books?
I do enjoy annotating my books. I used to absolutely hate it. But now, I enjoy making my books my own and adding my thoughts in the margins. It separates my collection from others.
