"Getting To Know You"
Monday: March 2, 2015
Hey guys! If you're wondering about my title, it's a "The King and I" reference to one of the songs sung in the musical. Anyway here are a few things about me....
- Reading comes as naturally to me as breathing. There's just something so exhilarating and magical about following a story, traveling to new places, and meeting new people through a simple turn of a page.
- I can not read music.. I mean I can but I can't, like I know where the notes fall or if you play a notes I can imitate it back but if you just tell me "Play C", I'll look at you as if you just asked me the question of life.
- I'm crazy organized, like I have what seems like millions of notebooks, calendars and planners. I color-code everything, add sticks when necessary and list it all out.
- There is probably more caffeine in my blood system than blood, I drink way too much coffee but I can't help it that I only drink coffee on days that end with y.
- I'm interested in all the arts; music (voice, piano, guitar, cello), dance (anything but hip hop because seeming me hip hop is like watching a dolphin trying to swim in a desert), visual art (primarily photography but I enjoy design and some drawing but eh), and theatre. I've enjoyed painting/drawing since I can remember, been dancing since I was 3, started being involved in music at about 5, and began theatre at about 6.
- I got my first journal from my Grandmother on my 6th birthday and that's when writing became an intense passion for me.
- My favourite animal is a cat which is pretty obvious since we have four (but if it were up to me, we'd have eight).
- I'm very fragile and weak-boned so I get injured or sick a lot, in fact my life use to be filled only with doctors appointments and pill prescriptions but last summer I stopped all my medications last summer which has made my life a bit harder but I enjoy the feeling of no pills.
- I despise winter because I hate the cold and everything about it but I enjoy the rest of the seasons, particularly fall.
- My biggest insecurity is being 5"8 because I just feel too tall, as if my femininity is taken away because I'm taller than most girls and a lot of guys.
- I never had to be told to eat my fruit and vegetable because I already liked a majority of them.
- The reason my parents named me Katya is because they wanted a name that could be said in every language without needing to be translated since I have family all over the world.
- I had my tonsils and adenoids removed when I was in 6th grade and had knee surgery when I was 2 weeks shy of 15.
- My eyes are a lighter brown colour but in the summer they change to a hazely-blue colour so it's rather confusing.
- I was born in Germany but contrary to the United States, if you're born in a country other than here, it does not automatically make you a citizen nor the nationality of where you were born. For instance, I was born in Germany but I am French and American both nationality and citizenship-wise because my mom is French and my dad is American. It is only in the US if you're born there you're from there. I am certainly not from Germany (no offense to any Germans but I do not feel any personal homey-connection to the country).
- I adore the Disney movie Beauty and The Beast but I've recently fallen in love with Frozen.
- I hate generic terms like "basic *insert skin-color/race* *insert sex*" they're literally so annoying.
- If you tell me I'm "too skinny" or I need to "eat more" will anger me in so many ways because I feel like if you can't tell something they're too fat, you should not be telling me I'm too skinny.
- I'm semi-ambidextrious because I write with my right hand but do almost everything else with my left and actually use to write with both until I was forced to choose one or the other in elementary school.
- I appreciate every single person who reads my blog, whether you live in another country or you go to my school, I love that you guys are here and hope you enjoy reading!
