Red Lip Classic

Have you ever had those mornings that you woke up determined to get things done and you sort of begin but then you're really tired? Yeah that was my morning. Last night, after an amazing phone call with one of my best friends, I was too awake to sleep so I ended up finally drifting off at approximately 2:30, but I set my alarm for 7 A.M. regardless. Regretting that decision the minute it started buzzing in the annoying way alarms do, I was still determined to have a productive morning. I get up and start getting ready, putting on dark faded jeans, a red plain t-shirt and a stripped black, dark grey and light grey cardigan. Putting on light amounts of eye makeup and red lipstick, I pull my hair back into a ponytail since it decided it was not going to cooperate with me this morning and left my bedroom.
First, I head to my cello and drag it up the stairs to our bonus room where I set up the chair, music stand, and end pin strap. After placing my bow on the couch and pulling out my cello, I put gently rub rosin on the bow hairs. Beginning with my Essential Elements book, I warm up and practice five or six little pieces then move on to my Suzuki book where I practice the French Folk Song and its five different variations. Although I'd like to say that I had practiced the full two hours as I had intended when setting up my timer, after catching myself dozing off more than a couple of times while playing notes I decided it was best that an hour and a half was suffient enough and it was time pack up my cello and head back downstairs.
It was already 9 A.M. and although some mornings I prefer to eat cereal (with barely any milk, just enough to make my cereal wet but not soggy because the taste of milk is utterly disgusting) or toast with Nutella, I actually really hate breakfast food. I'm more of a lunch person, I like pizza, pasta, soup, or rice, so this morning instead of sticking with my cereal routine from the past few days, I decided to warm up some of last night's tomato soup with bread (dipper) and finish reading my book. Again, after my eyes began to droop more than once, thankfully I managed to read the rest of the book but then I decided it would be best to take a little cat nap.
By cat nap, I mean I told my mom that I was going to go to sleep and for her to wake me up before we leave and her allowing me to sleep for about an hour. I was hoping to leave by 11:30, but when I woke up it was 11:20 and my mom had just finished making our "dirty rice" (as the label says) for lunch, I help her serve our bowls and while we're waiting for the rice to cool, we get our bags ready.
We leave at 11:45 and drive over to the Public Library where my college class will be meeting today because my class is a Service Learning class, meaning that partial credit for the class is to complete an assigned community service project and ours happens to be "Faces of Valor" which is basically a pamphlet/brochure-like book dedicated to the veterans in our community. Since my Dad is retired-army, it hits home a bit and I'm actually really excited to help not only preserve a bit of history but also to honor the men and women who served to protect this country. Normally our class meets at 12:45 and although that was the set meeting time for the Library, I had to return some books, renew other books and print out my English poem I actually posted yesterday since it's due today in class (click this link if you'd like to check it out - http://katyapodkovyroff.blogspot.com/2015/02/stains-on-my-soul.html ). Being a little early, I decide to read part of my next book while waiting for some of my classmates to arrive. By nearly 1 everyone has arrived and the director, a WWII veteran himself, begins talking to us about the procedure and how they ran things in the previous years. He was such a very charming man and had a way to make everyone smile with his side humor and life stories. The meeting was only about forty five minutes and my professor offered to drive me back to campus.
My next class was English where we began by presenting our poems and describing their meanings as well as what literary devices we used. Most of my peers actually had very somber personal stories in their poems and many of them were very touching. After going through all the poems, we had a quiz over the material we've been studying the past two weeks and then were dismissed whenever we had completed the assessment.
At five o'clock I had my Ballet class where as usual we began with bar work warm up then center work with a jete/echappe combination, ending with our across the floor routine. After class I went with my teacher (one of the directors of Watauga) and her daugher (Piper) to the Art Building to meet up with our old RA from Watauga, Andrea, to make buttons for the upcoming promotion we're doing for Watauga this weekend. However.... that kind of fell through since the button maker contraption actually looked like an ancient torturing device that included backwards instructions that none of us, 5 very educated people, could decipher so we decided to leave it be after our third failed attempt.
Very interesting day that ended with Burger King (two plain whoppers, large fries and large coke) and completing Chemistry homework.
