Happy Cupid Day

Saturday: February 14, 2015

Attempting to wake up this morning at 7:30, I ended up sleeping in until 8 and leaving my house at 8:30. My mom dropped me off at the Public Library, where I met with the rest of my History class for our Faces of Valor project, which is a booklet made by the community for all the veteran's in the county. Basically, our class is a Service Learning class and we are required to do 15 Community Hours this semester toward this project. Today was one of the sign-up days for the veterans to come and give us all their information in order for us to collect the data for this type of "yearbook". We were split in pairs and assigned to various stations. First were the greeters, that stood at the door and walked the veterans to the seating area, then the seater-assistants ( this girl, Sam, and I did that) where we gave them clipboards to fill out and when they finished them we escorted them to booth one, booth one they checked over their paperwork, booth two organized the paper work in the right order, booth three scanned all the forms and pictures electronically, booth four walked the veterans to the xerox machine, and booth five made paper-copies to put in booklets. It was kind of stressful for everyone, the volunteers kind of flustered at the beginning and the veterans kind of annoyed at the long wait, but once we got into the routine it went along smoothly. At noon, one of the coordinators gave all of our class free lunch where we got two slices of pizza and a soda. At two, the event was over and my Dad came to pick me up. We ran a few errands including getting Starbucks for my mom and I, stopping to fill his Jeep with gas, and exchanging one of my brother's video games at Game Stop. We got home at about 3 and I took a very nice nap until my mom got home. Every year for Valentines Day, my family and I usually exchange gifts of chocolate or cute little "presents" with cards. February is an important month in my house because of my mom's birthday on the 10th, valentines day on the 14th, and my parents' anniversary on the 15th, so we usually celebrate the weekend after or of all three. We gave my mom all her birthday presents (my Dad works night shift throughout the week so we had to wait so we could all give her her presents at once), then we each opened our valentines day gifts, and then my parents exchanged their anniversary presents. We decided to make a take-out run to Panera Bread for dinner and then we all split our separate ways to get some things done. After about an hour, we all came back to eat the Sherri-Berry chocolate-dipped strawberries and cookies for dessert that my dad ordered.

Cute Valentine's Day card I got from Ana, love her.

Hope you all had a Happy Valentine's Day!
Love,
