Coffee Cup and Cello Case

Monday: February 2,2015

I told myself that I would write every single day, but I kind of already broke that promise. Primarily because I didn't exactly have the most eventful weekend since I basically just laid around my house with my foot elevated (doctor's orders) and read books (Transcendence sequel and I'm halfway through the TOUCH novels if any of you are interested, they are both pretty good and easy reads). I read a lot, in fact, I make all my plans throughout the week so then I'm guaranteed a weekend full of reading. Last year I read on hundred books and this year my goals is at two hundred. I'm currently on my 37th book of the year.

Regardless, today has been pretty average. I woke up at 7 A.M., two hours before I had to leave, to make sure I had time to finish my ACT Prep answer sheet, study for my Math test today, take some notes for Chemistry and get in some extra practice time before my lesson at noon.

I begin my MWF schedule with ACT Prep, last week we were partnered up with someone with the same score as us and our goal was to take the test together and hopefully get a higher score then we did originally to help us improve on our next test. The girl I was partnered with was very shy but sweet and we worked together pretty well, we ended up getting a 27 on the Reading test, 2 points higher then we both made last time, we only missed 11 questions out of 40. Today we just had to type up our Test Analysis, which we finished in no time, so we left class early. That's when Channel, a recently made friend of mine, and I went to eat lunch in the University Center, where our friend Emilia met us. Since the first day of school the three of us kind of formed our little "clique", I mean we're not exactly clique-y and we talk to other people but we know the three of us are kind of our own group.

Barely thirty minutes later I had to abandon my friends to make a pretty lengthy walk back to my mom's car (since I don't drive, it actually terrifies me, honestly) to swap out my backpack and lunchbox for my cello. Keep in mind it was about 27 degrees outside, I have a boot on my foot and my cello with its case is pretty heavy so I was pretty miserable walking to the Music Building which was a longer walk than from the UC, but it was worth it for my lesson.

I get to the third floor of the building, where the student practice rooms are located, about an hour before my lesson is scheduled to begin. I wanted to get in some more practice time since I didn't really practice this weekend, being engrossed in my books and all (I know, tusk tusk me for blowing off my blog and practicing). I got in an hours' worth, practicing variations of Twinkle Twinkle and Jingle Bells ( I mentioned I'm a beginner right, I'm no Yo-Yo Ma just yet). I thought I sounded pretty awful, but I'm also my worst critique, how else am I suppose to get better when I'm the only person who knows what I am truly capable of. My new instructor, Mrs. Martin, who I had my first lesson with last week, is absoluetly phenomenal and I adore her so much. I loved my previous instructor, she had to take a break this semester, and Mrs.Martin r is actually in a Teaching program under my previous instructor so I still have contact with both of them. The lesson went really well and I left feeling a lot better than I did while I practiced, Mrs.Martin just says I'm too hard on myself but it's a good thing (sometimes).

I walked back to Mom's car where I met up with her and we drove to Starbucks and chit-chatted a bit on our way to my next class, Math. I was actually pretty worried about the test but I ended up finishing in fifteen minutes and my teacher said I was free to leave since that was all we'd be doing today.

Which leaves me to the present, I'm currently sitting in the university's library, waiting for my next class (Chemistry) to roll around which is relatively soon and hopefully meet up with my friends. I've been here for about an hour now, sitting next to this guy on my left, writing a "Creation v. Evolution" paper, constantly taking wide stretches to peek over to my computer screen, little does he know he'd be included in this next blog of mine but he's kind of funny just typing away, trying to type faster than me (I'm a pretty fast typer). The seat on my right has been inhabited by about five different people now just printing out assignments, probably for their next class, it astounds me how last-minute most college students are. And here I am just sipping my Starbucks Venti Vanilla Latte, probably being stuck on campus until my mom comes back around 7 P.M. for my brother's Tuba lesson, leaving me to attempt to finish the TOUCH novels. Hope you enjoyed this little mundane post and have a good day!
