Lovely Mornings

Thursday: January 22, 2015

The sun shines slightly through my window on a chilly morning and I curl the blankets tighter around me while my cat purrs loudly in my ear beside me. It's 9 A.M. but my first class is not until 12:45. I embrace the joy of waking up earlier and being able to doze off for a bit longer. I decide to get up and get ready, wearing a green crocheted sweater with a black camisole underneath, dark blue jeans and vibrant green converses. Leaving my hair to fall plainly on my shoulders, I put my glasses on my face and grab my purse to go downstairs. My younger brother devours food most often in our house leaving us to scavenge and choose between plain cereal with barely any milk or spicy dip that was left for barely one last use. I decide to take the dip, slice a few pieces of bread, and open a can of soda. Not the healthiest breakfast, but I'm not exactly a health snob. I eat at a slow pace and check my social media apps on my phone and when I'm done I decide to put the left over dishes that are in the sink, into the dish washer, since it seems my mother and I are the only two knowing how to actually use the marvelous cleaning device. Next I take out my favorite black mug out of the cabinet, fill it with coffee, add five spoonfuls of sugar and some french vanilla creamer. I stroll over to the couch and open up my laptop to begin on some homework that's not due for at least another two days, but I like to start things early. Losing track of time, I realize it's 11:30 and I must be off to school.
