Middle College

Please do not take offense by this post. I listen to NPR in the car. I work on my French by texting my mom in french (since she's French) and reading books in the language. I try to read at least 5 books a week, minimum. I blog primarily as an extra excuse to write since writing is my passion but also because I want to strengthen my skills as a writer. I work hard to be above proficient in my classes and when I'm lost or confused or falling behind, I make sure to get caught up and fully understand the concepts. I study and study and study. I read random articles about things a lot of people in general, not just teenagers, honestly probably don't even care about. I try to watch the news when I have time. I practice my instruments: cello, voice, guitar and piano. I try to learn in every aspect of my life. And that is what kept me distant from the kids my age and that is what got me to transfer to Middle College. ...

World War II

Thursday: January 29, 2015      The secluded woodland was infinite to the creatures it held. The forest floor burdened all the land animals being plastered with sharp thorns, hoarse plants, and tangled moss. Sunlight never reached through the thick canopy of branches to greet the woodland floor, only the creatures that flew had the opportunity for such luxury. Although the prime flying creature the forest inhabited was bats, they never even took the opportunity to the dismay of the mice below.      In a tiny sector of the woods at the foot of an oak tree, imprisoned a small white mouse that had been captured what had felt like a life time ago. Similarly to plenty of his kind, he was brought to the unfrequented forest for labor, to clear the coated ground and eventually die for the pleasure of the bats. The mice were kept against their will and although the bats were blindly taking orders from their subconscious', they tortured and tormented the mice ...

Prima Ballerina

Wednesday: January 28, 2015 I have been dancing since I was three years old, primarily ballet. I was born in Landstuhl, Germany and that is where I first began lessons, however once I was three and after my brother was born we moved to Zagora, Greece where I did not take any lessons for about two years until we moved back to Germany in Schweinfurt and I began dancing at an academy. My teacher was Russian but had lived in Germany for many years and spoke little to no English, and although nearly all Ballet terms are French, being a six year old who used to speak German but now spoke Greek and English, trying to decipher a Russian's French in German was well, rather complicated. However, I learned fast and even advanced to be with girls 3-4 years above me in grade school. I learned under this teacher until the age of about 12 and we moved to the States. I began lessons at a nearby Youth Center, but they lacked the technique and quality I had become accustomed to. Then we moved a...

Pill Prescriptions and Hospital Visits

Tuesday: January 27, 2015  (technically it is Wednesday at 2 AM BUT   I don't consider it a new day until sleep then awake the next morning)       I am a rather sickly child and quite injury-prone... All of my life I struggled with plenty of health issues including asthma, sleep disorders, anxiety, mood swings, migraines, vision problems (one of my eyes is near sighted while the other is far sighted as well as having astigmatism in both eyes), weak joints resulting in plenty of twisted/fractured/broken bones, allergies in the spring, mild lactose-intolerance, and various other things. Needless to say my life use to be a never ending cycle of pills and doctors appointments. I took over 20 pills a day until this summer when I decided to secretly stop them all. It was a very risky thing with the heavy dosage of medication I was as well as all the different types but I was tired of being in the situation that because I was already reliant on one pill that I...

Beginner Cellist

Sunday: January 25, 2015       I began playing cello last fall at the end of August. At the arts academy I attended that summer, I had met an astounding cellist who teaches at the university. She was absolutely phenomenal and even attended Yale. Needless to say, I was anxious because she did not take beginners, but when I approached her saying I was extremely interested in learning and was wondering if she could teach me, she said yes on the spot. I've been playing ever since and I've loved every last minute of it. I was permitted to use one of the school's cellos until I was able to use my own which ended up being until beginning of December when the semester ended so I had to return the school's and go get my own. However, my winter break was hectic and we never got around to it... Until today. I've been pestering my mom since December to call the company my teacher had recommended and they scheduled us an appointment for today at 4 PM. The address was ne...

Memories from Watauga Arts Academy 2014

Saturday: January 24, 2015      There are rare instances where you make friends that will last a life time. They understand you and you, them. Sometimes there are people that you just "click" with. I had that instance in my life this past summer at Watauga Arts Academy. I had auditioned for the vocal and theatre parts of the camp but ended up being involved in pretty much all sectors. The first day after initial orientation, we all walked over to the cafeteria at the university for dinner, there I met my soon to be best friends, Austin (musician), Ben (dancer), Abi (artist) and Mary Mac (musician). Austin and Ben were roommates and so were Abi and Mary Mac, the four them were sitting together when I walked over to ask if I could sit with them. After that first day, we kind of became inseparable the rest of camp. We did everything together, always.  I had a range of classes from beginning my days with ballet and jazz, then having some music class, followed by...
